Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers Mangalore plant shuts down due to water shortage

MANGALORE | MUMBAI | AHMEDABAD-GANDHINAGAR | RAJKOT – In a regulatory filing submitted to the Stock Exchanges in India, chemicals & fertilizers major Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd said of having shut operations due to water supply shortage.

The filing read, This is to inform you that, due to depletion of reservoir level at Thumbe vented dam which supplies water to Mangalore city including to the Company and the delayed pre-monsoon showers, the district administration/Mangalore city corporation has reduced the supply of water from today i.e May 14, 2019.

As the water storage level has reached the dead stock level, the Company has taken shutdown of Ammonia, Urea and ABC plants w.e.f May 14, 2019.

The production will resume once the water is available.
