JSW STEEL supplies high-quality steel for Metro Rail Projects

MUMBAI | AHMEDABAD-GANDHINAGAR | RAJKOT – In a regulatory update submitted to the Indian Stock Exchanges, iron and steel manufacturing Indian company JSW Steel Ltd said of having supplied high-quality ‘JSW Neosteel’ TMT Rebars for Metro Rail construction projects, the Metro Rail project segment is expected to boost the company’s supplies by over 6 billion (~600 crore) rupees in financial year 2019-20.

In a press-release as submitted by the company to the Indian Bourses, titled – “JSW Steel supplies high-quality ‘JSW Neosteel’ TMT Rebars for Metro Rail construction projects it further read that the Metro Rail Construction to boost the JSW Steel’s supplies by over Rs.600 crore in FY20 and that the company targets higher volume of supplies to Metro Rail projects during this fiscal compared to last few years.


The press-release in details further read that, JSW Group, during the month of October & November supplied more than 30,000 metric tonnes of high quality JSW Neosteel TMT Rebars towards construction of Metro projects in various Indian cities.

This takes the company’s overall supplies of JSW Neosteel TMT Rebars for metro construction project to more than 85,000 metric tonnes so in this fiscal.

JSW Steel has been supplying its Neosteel TMT Rebars to Metro Rail Projects across India since inception of the Metro Rail Projects.

In current financial year, the company expects to increase its supplies to the Metro Rail projects to about 150,000 metric tonnes as compared to its supplies averaging 100,000 metric tonnes per year over last few years.


The company is supplying to Metro Rail Projects in Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkotta, Indore, Bhopal, Lucknow and Ahmedabad.

The ongoing supplies as well as those already completed during the current fiscal will boost JSW Steel’s supplies to Metro rail projects by more than 6 billion (~600 crore) rupees following successful completion of these deliveries.

The company bagged these Metro Rail orders through key EPC Partners with ongoing supply arrangements.

The Metro Rail projects in these cities are expected to cumulatively add more than over 760 kilometers urban rail transit lines to the India’s fast expanding metro network.
