PORBANDAR | AHMEDABAD | GANDHINAGAR | RAJKOT – In a mid-sea rescue operations, conducted at night in rough weathers, on April 14, 2019 – Sunday, Indian Coast Guard rescued 08 fishermen 27 nautical miles off Porbandar, in yet another Search and Rescue operation.

On 14 Apr 19, in the wee hours,  Indian Coast Guard rescued 08 fishermen 27 nautical miles off Porbandar in yet another Search and Rescue operation braving the inclement weather, the official press releases read.

 At 0100  hrs on 14 Apr 19, Indian Coast guard ship C-445 while on patrol received a distress call from Indian fishing boat (IFB) Prabhu Sagar.

Fishing boat with 08 crews onboard intimated flooding onboard and requested FOR HELP.

On receipt of information Coast Guard Ship C-445 swung into action and immediately proceeded towards position of boat.

The ship reached IFB Prabhu Sagar at about 0300 hrs and started the rescue operation.

Braving the rough sea and darkness, ICG ship started de-flooding the boat by using submersible pumps.

However, due to rough sea conditions, one wooden plank of the hull broke and the boat sank and the crew jumped into water.

All the 08 crews were saved and taken onboard ICG C-445 safely and brought to Porbandar harbour at 0700 hrs.

Coast Guard Units undertook the save & rescue mission and saved the precious lives despite prevailing rough weather conditions.

The Indian Coast Guard so far during the current year has saved 14 lives at sea in Gujarat in keeping with its motto ‘Vayama Rakshamah’.
