ASHOK LEYLAND (AshLey) bags order for 1,290 buses from Gujarat State

CHENNAI | MUMBAI | GANDHINAGAR-AHMEDABAD | RAJKOT – In a press release submitted to the Indian Stock Exchanges, automobiles major Ashok Leyland Ltd said of having bagged order for 1290 Buses from Gujarat State Roadways Transport Corporation.

This order comes closely on the back of 2580 bus orders received from various state transport undertakings recently.

Speaking about this order, Mr. Vinod K. Dasari, Managing Director, Ashok Leyland, said,

“We are very happy to receive the confirmation of this order from GSRTC. Our ability to bring value, combined with our superior technology and innovation will help us maintain our leadership position in buses in lndia.”

Speaking on the win, Mr. Sunjay Saroswat, Senior Vice President, Global Buses, Ashok Leyland, said,

“With this order, our order book for State Transport Undertakings is upwards of 3000 buses. This is a testament to the reliability, durability and robustness of our buses. The cost of ownership and the product experience which we can deliver is the best in the industry.”

Ashok Leyland is currently the 4th largest manufacturer of buses in the world and India’s largest bus manufacturer. This order would further consolidate its leadership position.

However, investors & traders remained on sidelines post announcement of having bagged such a huge order, which got very well reflected through the share price of the company which trailed over a choppy session throughout the day to end in red zone on negative counters.
